Upgrading of the parking and deposit areas

The construction of the second Gotthard tunnel raised the important question of how to use the excavated waste material.

Thanks to the deposit of material coming from the Gotthard excavations, about 105,000 cubic metres of rock, Valbianca SA has suggested the deposit area be redesigned, as well as the restoration of existing parking spaces. In so doing, access to and from the Airolo-Pesciüm facilities will be further facilitated.

A campervan area has also been planned, which is necessary for tourists who want to stop in Airolo for a few days in the summer.
