Nicola Mona new Director of Valbianca SA

The Board of Directors of Valbianca SA has appointed Mr Nicola Mona as the new Director. Chosen from a shortlist of valuable candidates following an open competition, the new Director will be called upon to lead Valbianca SA in a period of exciting regional developments.

Nicola Mona (1975), who will take up the position on 15 July 2024, has strong leadership and management experience gained in various areas and roles, not least managing the HCAP Group as General Manager from 2019-2022. Nicola Mona convinced the Board of Directors thanks to the similarities of the roles he held in the past with the particularities of Valbianca's management, which includes, in addition to the Airolo tourist resort, the operation of four catering outlets and a canteen with accommodation. His dynamism, his strong degree of professionalism, his passion for mountain sports, his strong attachment to Airolo and the Leventina, and his familiarity with all the national languages complete Nicola's profile for the role entrusted to him.

Nicola Mona, who holds a master's degree in materials science (ETHZ) and an MBA from Oxford, has followed a very rich and diversified professional career path, starting out in mainly technical roles at RUAG, where he honed his skills in engineering and organisational project management, and then growing into more managerial and strategic roles with HCAP and his own business consulting company. As an executive and consultant in the private sector, the new Director was involved in all operational and strategic activities of a company. Nicola therefore brings with him skills and experience that are useful to Valbianca SA, such as the development and implementation of corporate strategies, business organisation, operational, technical and financial management, and the care of relations with customers, suppliers and regional authorities.

With the appointment of the new Director, the Board of Directors is reinforcing a number of new positions at the company to support the expected period of growth and new investments in support of the industry and the region.

The Board of Directors also wishes to bid farewell to the outgoing Director Simone Beffa, who with passion, energy and tenacity led Valbianca SA from September 2021 until today. A warm and dutiful thank you goes to Simone Beffa, who managed to manage the ski resort during three complicated years while maintaining, despite frequent difficulties, a high level of sporting, gastronomic and recreational offerings, always making the experiences of the many customers who regularly appreciate our beautiful region over the years a pleasant one.

The Board of Directors wishes Simone - on behalf of all employees of Valbianca SA - great success in the continuation of his professional career, and to Nicola a good start in his work.
