Swiss Paralympic Ski Championships 2020
From Friday 24 January to Sunday 26 January Airolo-Pesciüm will host the Swiss Paralympic Ski Championships.
After the excellent experiences gained thanks to the Schnuppertage, a ski weekend for disabled children in single and dual skis, which has been taking place in Airolo with great success for three years now, Airolo-Pesciüm has proposed itself as organizer of the 2020 Swiss Paralympic Ski Championships.
The event, which for the first time will be held in Ticino, will not only be valid for the Swiss Championships 2020, but will also have great international relevance and will see the participation of athletes from other nations.
The Swiss Paralympic Ski Championships will feature three disciplines, Super G, Giant Slalom and Special Slalom, and the athletes will be divided into three categories (amputees, blind and paraplegic). About 30-40 skiers are expected to participate, including the Ticino Paralympic athlete Murat Pelit.
The event will be organized by Valbianca SA in collaboration with Sport Svizzero in carrozzella, Associazione Ti-Rex Sport, OTR Bellinzonese and Alto Ticino and TiSki.
The awarding ceremony of the first two races will take place on Saturday 25th January at 17.00 in Piazza Motta in Airolo with an aperitif offered by Ti-Rex Sport Association. On Sunday the ceremony will take place at the end of the races.
For the occasion, the Swiss Ski School of Lugano will be present with ski-bobs. It will be dual skis thanks to which the public will be able to experience the thrill of being transported on the slopes guided by ski instructors.
A special thanks the sponsors supporting the event: Banca Stato, AET, Caseificio del Gottardo e Sport-Toto.
