Treno Gottardo: the most beautiful connection between north and south

From December 13, 2020, the Gotthard Train of the Schweizerische Südostbahn AG, in cooperation with the SBB, will travel from Basel and Lucerne or Zurich on the Gotthard scenic route, initially to Bellinzona and from April 5, 2021 daily to Locarno, the sun-kissed parlor of Switzerland. The panoramic journey at reduced speed to Ticino promises breathtaking views of steep mountain walls, blue lakes and finally of Mediterranean panoramas with palm trees and splendid palaces. The Treno Gottardo will therefore be the most beautiful connection between north and south.

Travel by train with the utmost comfort

The Schweizerische Südostbahn AG only uses the low-floor trains "Traverso" for the Gotthard panorama section, which have been in use on the section between the eastern Swiss city of St. Gallen and the city of lights, Lucerne, since mid-2019. In the modern bistro areas, available in two points on the train, passengers can choose from a wide range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

The family area, set up with a lot of love for details, offers enough space for baby carriages and, thanks to the large tables, the little ones can comfortably have fun with their toys.
